During my third trimester I began to just not feel right. I had begun vomiting and experiencing extreme heartburn. I could probably eat a whole bottle of Tums in less than a week. I had absolutely no appetite, and despite my family being concerned of me not eating, when I did force something I could only tolerate a few bites. I had all the signs I was going into liver failure, but my doctors failed to take my worries seriously. My whites of my eyes began having a tinge of yellow. My urine was turning dark brown and I had pain in the upper right side of my stomach, which my doctor would state it was one of the boys feet under my ribs. The only time I was comfortable was when I was submerged to my chin in the bath tub. I made so many complaints but my doctors did not take me seriously. My last appointment before being admitted, I had high blood pressure, but again my concerns were dismissed by my doctors."
I was taken to the ICU and the boys to the NICU. I later learned from my family that My liver had hemorraged during surgery. I experienced liver and kidney failure and also disseminated intravascalar coagulation (DIC). I received 27 different types of blood transfusions. The boys suffered from hypixic ischemic encephalopathy and need to be intubated for 48 hours. Miraculously, they began breathing on their own and showing no lesions on their brains through MRI. I stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for 3 days before being transferred to internal medicine for 1 night then to labor and deliver floor. I did not have the chance to see or hold my boys for 48hours. I was discharged after 10 days and my boys were discharged 5 weeks later. We are all happy and healthy to date!"
